Detailed Review AND PRICING

  • Samsung Galaxy A series is always Samsung budget friendly series with some Flagship phones specs. Samsung Galaxy A31 is the latest Samsung budget friendly smartphone for Samsung lovers. This phone targets the audience who likes high quality Display and an awesome camera.  As compared with other Chinese brands the price is as usual higher but Samsung provides its user Flagship user experience which these Chinese companies.

Here are some Key-Features OF SAMSUNG GALAXY A31

CAMERA'S

Back Camera: Samsung Galaxy A31 can redeem itself with its camera performance. The four cameras on the back include a primary 48-megapixel sensor, an 8-megapixel sensor with a wide-angle lens, a 5-megapixel depth camera, and a 5-megapixel macro camera. The apertures of all the cameras aren’t particularly impressive, with even the one on the main camera being just f/2.0. I did find a few missing features which ought to have been there. Keeping in mind the price of the phone and its positioning in the series, it’s a little odd to not have 4K video recording as an option, and even a Night mode for low-light stills. Pro mode is crippled, with no option to adjust the shutter speed. Autofocus speed is decent, but this phone tends to hunt for focus in low light.

Front Camera: The front camera uses a 20-megapixel sensor. At the front, a 20-megapixel shooter takes noise-free selfies outdoors during the day, though detail preservation is strictly average and images lack sharpness. Noise creeps in as soon as you move indoors and the pictures become quite soft. Overall, selfie quality on this phone will get the job done and nothing more.

Videos: Videos are limited to 1080-p resolution, but quality is decent given ample light when shooting with the primary camera. The Galaxy A31 doesn’t offer even electronic stabilization, so movements with the camera look jerky. You can’t switch to the wide-angle camera while recording but you can switch to it before you begin. As expected, video quality is just about acceptable under good light but very poor in low light. There’s no stabilization here either.

Conclusion: Overall, the cameras on the Galaxy A31 are very underwhelming and lack many features that you’d find in many phones that cost a lot less. But for Samsung Lovers the camera is satisfactory.

Performance

As far as performance is concerned, Samsung Galaxy A31 is packed with MediaTeck Helio P65 chipset, a 12nm chip that packs two Cortex-A75 performance cores clocked at 2GHz, six low-power Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.7GHz, and the Mali-G52 MC2 GPU. The processor cores are newer than what you find in the Exynos 7904 that powers the Galaxy A30 and so is the GPU, but the Helio P65 is still underwhelming overall, at least when it comes to gaming.

When you’re not gaming, the Galaxy A31 does well enough. We tested the variant with 6GB of RAM, and apps open quickly and the animations are mostly smooth, though there are the usual stutters and lag at times, like when you switch between two apps.

Benchmark Scores

As far as benchmark scores are concerned, Samsug Galaxy A31 scores 349 points in single core performance and 1,291 points in the multi core performance on Geekbench 5. However, on Antutu Galaxy A31 scores 150378. The score is not very high considering the price range and comparing with other Chinese brand in this price range.

Battery

Galaxy A31 Packs with 5000mAh battery size. The 5,000mAh battery lasted for 18 hours and 11 minutes in our HD video loop test, which is very good. Even with regular usage, I was easily able to go well beyond one and half day on a single charge. As helio P65 is battery efficent chipset so combined with 5000mAh battery galaxy A31 gives very good battery life. Which is one of the major reasons of buying this phone. There is 15W fast charging, so you can charge the battery up to 50 percent in an hour, but filling it completely takes well over two hours.

Display and design

One of the most important selling point reason of Galaxy A31 is its Display quality and Design. Even though the design of the Galaxy A31 isn’t exactly fresh for a budget Samsung device, I do like the fact that it’s slim and light. There’s a huge SIM tray on the left, for two SIM cards and a microSD card. The headphone jack, USB Type-C port, and a speaker are at the bottom. The back features Samsung’s Prism Crush pattern, of which we have the blue variant. This phone is also available in black and white trims. The quad-camera cluster at the back is a rectangular module and doesn’t bulge outward much.

The Galaxy A31 has a sharp 6.4-inch full-HD+ (1080×2400 pixels) Super AMOLED display. I found it to be more than adequate in terms of brightness, even in the daytime. Colors were a bit too rich for my taste in the default ‘Vivid’ mode, but this can be toned down in the settings. The display is flat, without any curves on the sides, but there are no sharp edges either so performing gestures isn’t a problem.

Conclusion

Considering all above information, I will conclude that Galaxy A31 performs quiet well in some area on the other hand it also lags in many area considering the price tag. If you are a Samsung lover, who buys only Samsung devices with decent camera and High quality display along with huge battery life, then go with Galaxy A31 otherwise if you are a gamer who plays heavy games and performs heavy duty tasks then Galaxy A31 is not for you. Go with with brands in this price segment as many other brands provides more high specs than Galaxy A31.
